I Am Sativah

Hi, I’m Sativah, a sw'er, educator, and creative with over 14 years of experience in this industry.

Dancing saved my life. It gave me the tools to survive, heal, and thrive on my own terms. It taught me how to build confidence that doesn’t depend on anyone else, and how to move through the world with power, softness, and strategy.

Now, I teach virtually and in-person (at aligned studios and spaces), offering pole dance classes, workshops, and mentorship rooted in community care, lived experience, and pleasure on your own terms. I don’t believe in quick fixes or performative empowerment, I believe in showing up, telling the truth, and creating spaces where sex workers and marginalized folks are prioritized and protected.

Right now, Patreon is my main hub for classes, content, and community since I was deplatformed on Instagram at 10.5K followers. I now operate primarily through The $tripped Project, a platform I lead that centers sw'er storytelling, education, and mutual aid.

I also still perform and collaborate with some of the most talented dancers and creatives in this industry. And if everything aligns, I’m planning a world tour in 2026, so if you’d like to see me in your city or bring this work to your space, feel free to reach out.

What’s something about your experience as a s*x worker that people never ask but really need to hear?

International Sex Workers’ Rights Day isn’t just a date, it’s a reminder that we’re still being cr!minal!zed, cens0red, and pushed out of basic safety.

We’re still getting:
• Arrested for carrying c0nd0ms
• Deplatformed for existing online
• Punished for being poor, trans, Black, disabled, or undocumented
• Left out of conversations about rights and labor

Decriminalization is the only model that protects all of us.
It lowers violence, reduces STI transmission, and gives us access to housing, healthcare, and protection.

The Nord!c model and “partial” crim!nalization still harm us, they just do it more quietly.

We’re not a PR project.
We’re organizers, cultural workers, community builders, and survivors.

Fun fact: skr!p clurb stages didn’t even have spin poles until the early 2000s. Static is the original. The foundation. The reason some of us learned how to melt without ever moving fast.

This post isn’t about shaming white people. It’s about naming a system that shows up in $w and pole, and pretending it doesn’t exist is part of the problem.

If you’ve ever seen white dancers go viral for moves they didn’t create… If you’ve watched $w’er content get flagged while “clean” versions go viral…If you’ve seen studios profit off skr!p club culture while excluding the skr!ppers who built it, you already know what we’re talking about.

Calling out whiteness isn’t hate.
It’s clarity. And if you care about this work, you should care about where it came from and who keeps getting left out.

Because the way we’ve been taught to feel about our own pleasure, power, and presentation has never been neutral (especially for those of us who are Black, tran$, kweer, fat, femme, or visibly $exual).

We’re told to hide. Punished for loving our bodies. Censored for being hot. Shamed for knowing we look good or for wanting to take up space. Our desire to move is being policed.

Panty Play is about unlearning all of that, together.
It’s about reclaiming movement, and feeling at home in our bodies again 🫂

We can’t build $W liberation by recreating punishment. This post isn’t about defending harmful behavior, it’s about being honest about how we respond to it.
 We’ve gotten used to turning our frustration inward, tearing each other down when we don’t agree, and calling it community care. But if we really want to change the conditions we live under, we have to aim higher.

Deplatforming each other doesn’t dismantle the systems harming us. That energy should be going toward the people in power( lawmakers, tech CEOs, institutions) that profit off our pain.

Stigma isn’t natural. It’s something we’ve been taught. And the longer we stay caught in cycles of shame, punishment, and division, the harder it is for the world to see us for what we actually are: Human.

As Adrienne Maree Brown reminds us in We Will Not Cancel Us:

“Canceling is not punishment, and punishment does not stop the cycle of harm, not long term. Cancellation may even be counter-abolitionist.”

If we believe in abolition, we have to believe in the possibility of transformation. Not because it’s easy to do but because it’s necessary if we’re serious about real change. We don’t have to agree on everything to respect each other. We don’t have to call everything “safety” when it’s actually retaliation. We just need to remember why we started doing this work and who we’re doing it for.

The $tripped Project exists to uplift sex workers, center truth, and build community, not crown gatekeepers or compete over who’s “most reputable.” This work didn’t start for clout. It started out of survival and out of need.

If it ever feels like we’re drifting from that, we pause, realign, and recommit.

We don’t engage in public takedowns, power struggles, or ego-driven debates. We build. We listen. We grow. And we move from experience, not projection.

There is no one voice of this movement.
There never has been.
And that’s the point.

A recent comment dismissed an OG $w’ers post as “dramatic,” while uplifting courtesans as the supposed foundation of sex work history. It may have sounded harmless, but that’s exactly the issue.

When someone centers courtesans (a wealthy, whitewashed archetype) as the root of our culture, it pushes aside the real labor and lived experiences of those who built this work from the ground up: Black, trans, undocumented, and visibly working people who rarely get the credit, visibility, or safety they deserve.

This infographic was made to clarify that. Not to attack, but to correct & educate. Because these narratives shape access, booking, pay, and safety every single day.

We’re not here to argue, we’re here to protect what’s real.

We invite everyone, including the person who made this harmful statement, to sit with this, read through the receipts, and join us for our April 29 book club where we’ll be reading $pread, a $w’er-led zine that documented the truth long before these conversations were trendy.

I urge everyone to do their own research, not just to fact check, but to understand the full picture. The more you learn, the more you’ll see who’s always been here, building, creating, and being left out of important conversations.

Pole has become a luxury that too many of us can’t afford.
 Especially those of us who built the culture to begin with: Black dancers, trans girls, undocumented workers, disabled ppl, and those of us who are visibly $w’ers.

Backpage. Craigslist. The club. That’s where the blueprint was written 💋

There were no starter kits. No training guides. No workshops or business plans. We learned in hotel rooms, on club floors, and through trial and error (with no safety net, no security, and often no one in our corner).

Before anyone coined “$tripper style,” we were already living it. We taught each other everything we knew, because we had to. Some of us didn’t have supportive families. Some didn’t have community at all. Sometimes, all we had was each other.

This post isn’t just a timeline, it’s a record. Because censorship has already erased too much of our story. And we’re not letting them take this part too.

This culture didn’t start in wellness spaces.

It started in clubs, on Backpage, in motel rooms. We moved to survive. And that survival became the blueprint. Now, it’s being rebranded without credit. We’re being shadowbanned from the very spaces we birthed.

This carousel is a reminder. A call-in.

If you’re learning from what we’ve created, you should be learning from the people who built them.

And if you’ve built a platform from this, you owe something back.

Every day is an opportunity to support, uplift, and advocate for SWers. If you believe in human rights, labor rights, or bodily autonomy, you should also support decriminalization.

$Wers rights are human rights.

Police target, abuse, and extort $Wers, especially BIPOC, trans, and undocumented workers. Full decriminalization means fewer arrests, less brutality, and more community protection.

‘Partial’ criminalization (like the Nordic model) still harms us, as clients fear arrest, which pushes us into unsafe situations, particularly when screening clients for our safety.

We want to break down the stigma surrounding $W and encourage our community to do the same. We wouldn’t be here without the individuals who fight for our rights and those who continue to do so, including Cecilia Gentili, Carol Leigh, Marsha P. Johnson, Angelina Cortez, Strippers United, and Decrim NY—and hopefully you.
